Introducing Fluxiom
This video shows the key aspects of Fluxiom in a short, user-friendly package. We encourage administrators who have little or no time to train new users to share the video with their team, to get new users up to speed as painlessly as possible.
Fluxiom provides a cloud-based, centralised data storage and processing platform. Fluxiom allows users to receive, store, process and distribute data from virtually any modern, Internet-enabled computer, alleviating the need for local storage or asset management systems. The system makes enterprise-grade connectivity, storage and safety features available to end users who would normally not have the time, money or knowledge required to set up such a platform. Additionally, it features breakthrough processing technology that facilitates the archiving and retrieval of large amounts of data by intelligently analysing the contents of the files entrusted to the platform.
An emphasis on visual content
While virtually any file can be uploaded onto Fluxiom, the system places a strong emphasis on visual content, making it a favourite amongst photographers, designers and creative professionals. Unlike other enterprise asset management systems, which only deal with text files and spreadsheets, Fluxiom is designed to decode and analyse graphic files, photographs, sounds and even videos.
Facilitating retrieval
Because large pools of data easily defeat simple organisation practices, and sometimes bump against the limits of human memory, Fluxiom facilitates the retrieval of information through different, complementary means. By analysing file content and metadata, by generating live visual previews and by recognising human-friendly attributes such as file type, date and name, Fluxiom makes it easy to answer nebulous questions such as “A photo taken last march” or a “A historic tour of the Taj Mahal.”
Tagging allows users to devise their own labelling and sorting system, by applying as many or as few criteria to a file as they wish.
Replacing FTP and email
Because Fluxiom users can receive files right into their accounts, and share them with download links or on-demand mini-sites, Fluxiom replaces traditional data retrieval, storage and distribution processes end-to-end. More specifically, Fluxiom alleviates the need for email attachments or FTP servers, extranet sites and other such technologies.
Increasing security
Because Fluxiom is housed in a high-availability data centre on a redundant storage platform, and makes regular off-site backups of its data, Fluxiom provides a level of security that is not available to individuals, small- and medium-sized businesses, even when they follow best backup practices. Additionally, Fluxiom is built around the concept of controlled sharing, meaning it is easy to restrict access to data, as well as define various levels of access to said data.
Playing well with others
Fluxiom comes with a rich API, thereby allowing companies and developers to extend the platform, and integrate it with solutions of their own. In professional settings, this means Fluxiom can easily integrate with intranets, ordering systems, production back-ends or even other “Web 2.0” applications. The API is often enriched and Fluxiom’s own client-side extensions are built upon it.
Saving money
While the cost of storage systems has dropped dramatically over the years, building a redundant, high-availability, high-capacity system is out of the reach of most businesses, even reasonably-sized ones. Additionally, fewer businesses still can devote the necessary resources to maintaining, securing and overseeing the operation of such a system. By serving thousands of users from a single platform, Fluxiom makes economies of scale work for everyone, from large firms to individual users. This sharing of resources allows everyone to benefit from state-of-the-art equipment, and frees the end user from worrying about system administration.
Going mobile
Because Fluxiom works from any Internet-enabled computer, it allows its users to go mobile without worrying about losing track of their data. While traditional storage servers may not be accessible outside of company or home networks, Fluxiom is always within reach. This is especially useful for those who travel or whose work often happens on the road. Remote access software is often difficult to configure properly, prone to failures and security glitches, that can put an entire network at risk, beyond the single storage server.
